Chandelier Buyer's Guide
Finding the Perfect Chandelier:
A chandelier is a well-designed and very functional yet stylish light fixture that adds a true sophistication and inviting presence to your space. With a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from, it is no wonder the chandelier can transform a room from drab to extraordinary in seconds. Every chandelier features a unique shape that typically has an over the top design with distinctive enhancements. The most wonderful thing about choosing a chandelier for your home is the wide varieties of styles and designs that have been created throughout the years.
Sizing and Hanging a Chandelier:
Determine your ceiling height first – shorter ceilings will demand smaller fixtures and the chandelier you choose should complement and balance the space it hangs over, whether that be in a foyer, over a dining room table or in a powder room. It should be a stylish supplement to a room, not an element that conquers your space. If the chandelier is going over a dining room table, you want to size your chandelier three quarters the width of the table. The bottom of the chandelier should sit just about 30 to 32 inches above the table top. In order to create the optimum light source without the potential for glare, chandeliers will generally have 300 watts of light.
Things to Consider:
Like most fixtures, the shape, style, and design of a Chandelier serve specific functions. With this as the case, there are particular considerations that should be taken when selecting the right light.
